The Glenwood Springs Lions Club awarded scholarships this year to Jacqueline Weast and Abbey Walters. Lions Club member Dale Snearly presented the awards to the girls. The scholarships are based upon academics, financial needs and future goals.

Cornell University is pleased to announce that Ty Bretthorst, of New Castle, graduated with the Class of 2005 during commencement ceremonies May 29 in Ithaca, N.Y. He received his degree in business administration.

Brent and Ethel Jensen, of Grand Junction, are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Melissa Jensen, to Ty Antonides, of Denver, son of Hunter and Joey Antonides, of Glenwood Springs.

Melissa is a graduate of Grand Junction High School and works at Lucent Technologies.

Ty is a graduate of Chapparral High School in Scottsdale, Ariz., and attended Mesa State College in Grand Junction. He has served in the U.S. Navy and is a representative at Yes Golf in Denver.

An Oct. 1 wedding is planned in Parker.
