Submitted PhotoHannah McGavock, a 2004 Glenwood Springs High School graduate, recently passed the written, oral and flight exam to earn her private rotocraft helicopter license, specifically to pilot the Robinson R22 helicopter. Her parents, Joni and David, are proud, thrilled and just a little nervous.

Various local scholarship winners:

– Jacqueline Weast, of Glenwood Springs, received the Sam Walton Community Scholarship.

– Jacqueline Collier, of Glenwood Springs, received a U.S. BanCorp Educational Awards Program scholarship.

– Rebekah Weddell, daughter of Mike and Shelly Weddell, of Glenwood Springs, a 2005 Glenwood Springs High School graduate, won a scholarship from Hastings College in Hastings, Neb.

– Shay Salaz is a Western Rockies Federal Credit Union scholarship recipient. Shay is a 2004 graduate of Rifle High School.
