Jared Abshire will be awarded the highest rank a Boy Scout can achieve at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 1, at the Glenwood Church of Christ. He invites the community to attend the Eagle Court of Honor.Jared’s Eagle community service project consisted of the restoration and construction of bird houses at Aspen Glen Golf Course. The new birdhouses were placed strategically along the golf course, increasing the amount of nesting areas to support the increase of the local bird population.A 2006 graduate of Glenwood Springs High School, Jared plans to attend the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Wash. He is the son of Jeannette Abshire, of Glenwood Springs, and Randy Abshire, of Carlsbad, N.Me.

Jonathan Paul Fujiwara, son of Robert and Dianne Haynes, of Battlement Mesa, was commissioned as an Ensign in the Untied States Navy on May 26 at the Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md. Jonathan has reported to the Naval Air Station in Pensacola, Fla., for training as a naval flight officer.
