Pat Winters wishes to send Happy Birthday sentiments to her father, David Flinn, who turns 93 years young today, Nov. 7.

Army Pvt. Scott H. Hughes has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Sill in Lawton, Okla.Hughes is the son of Scott Hughes of Livingston, Texas, and Julie Jones of Edwards.

Army Pfc. Andrew J. Deschneau has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson in Columbia, S.C.He is the son of Austin Deschneau of Edwards and Michelle Werner of Buena Vista. Deschneau is a 2006 graduate of Buena Vista High School.

Results from the 117th Dan classing were officially handed down from the U.S. Soo Bahk Do Moo Duk Kwan Federation and presented at Rocky Mountain Martial Arts in Basalt on Oct. 26. Promoted to Cho Dan (first degree Black Belt) were Thorne Warner, Kenny Resche, Jamie Matherly, Taylor Seelbinder and David Cook. Sue Fittanto was promoted to Kyo Sa (certified instructor). Students from Aspen officially promoted were Deb Nininger for Cho Dan and Joshua B. Landis and Norman Tai for Kyo Sa certification.
