An invitation is extended to those friends and family wishing to help celebrate Ann and Freddie Fazzi’s 50th wedding anniversary at an open house from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 30, at the Silt Fire House. Please, no gifts.

Sonny and Bernie Darien were married Dec. 29, 1956, in Glenwood Springs. Immediately after the wedding, the couple traveled to Quantico, Va., where Sonny was stationed with the United States Marine Corps. Three years later they returned to Carbondale, where they raised their three children and continued to reside for 44 years. Sonny coached basketball and taught at Roaring Fork High School for 30 years. After he retired from the Re-1 School District and Bernie retired from the law firm of Delaney & Balcomb, the couple began traveling in their RV during the winters, returning to Carbondale in the summers. Over the years, the couple became avid tennis players, a sport they still enjoy. Sonny taught tennis in the area for over 15 years. The couple moved to St. George, Utah, in the spring of 2004, where they now reside. Friends and family are invited to join the couple at an open house from 2-5 p.m. Jan. 6 at the Carbondale Town Hall.
