LeRoy and Kathy Espinoza of Cortez, Joy and Charles Steffen of Glenwood Springs, and David and Stacy Dalman of Oklahoma City are pleased to announce the engagement of their children, Bernadette Ann Catherine Espinoza to Dustin Blake Dalman.Bernadette is a 1992 graduate of Montezuma-Cortez High School and a 1997 graduate of Fort Lewis College. Dustin is a 1989 graduate of Glenwood Springs High School and a 2006 graduate of Mesa State College.The couple will be united in marriage July 21 at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Cortez.

After several weeks of challenging freestyle and big air competitions in the Moes Southwest Grill Terrain Park, Sunlight Mountain Resort has named its King and Queen of the Mountain.Katy Curry, a 20-year-old snowboarder from Glenwood Springs, was named the Queen of the Mountain after winning the big air competition and placing third in both the slopestyle and rail jam comps. Curry has been snowboarding for 11 years and is currently a snowboard instructor at Sunlight. Jusdan Arruda was named King of the Mountain after winning the big air competition, placing second in the rail jam and third in the slopestyle comp. A 20-year-old snowboarder from Rifle, Jusdan has been riding for 12 years and names the double shifty as his favorite trick. Both the King & Queen of the Mountain will receive a 2007-2008 season pass to Sunlight and several other items from event sponsors including Smith Optics, Girl Powder and Aspen Valley Harley Davidson.

Jasmine Vant Hoff won two categories in the Mountain Dew Vertical Challenge finals in Steamboat Springs on March 31. She won the Fastest Female in her age group (14 years) and the Fastest Female Skier Overall. Her parents are Karen and Adreiaan Vant Hoff of Glenwood Springs.

Dr. Gary Knaus, medical director at Heritage Park Care Center in Carbondale, was named 2006 Medical Director of the Year for Life Care Centers of Americas Mountain States Division on Friday, March 30, during the American Medical Directors Associations meeting in Hollywood, Fla.Knaus serves as a mentor and teacher to many associates and networks with area hospitals and local EMTs to improve care at the facility.Heritage Park Care Center, located at 1200 Village Road, is one of 20 skilled nursing facilities in Colorado managed by Life Care Centers of America.
