College communicator praised
On Oct. 27, Colorado Mountain College Public Information/PR Director Joe Marquez was presented with the 2003 “Communicator of the Year” award at the 17th annual National Council for Marketing and Public Relations (NCMPR) District 4 conference in Corpus Christi, Texas.
The Communicator of the Year award honors a two-year college marketing professional who has demonstrated leadership and ability in college communications. It is awarded annually in each of NCMPR’s seven districts.
The award was a “total surprise” to Marquez, who was preparing to emcee the evening’s upcoming Medallion awards presentation. “(Then) I heard some very familiar words from the announcer who was preparing to present the Communicator award,” Marquez said.
NCMPR represents marketing and PR professionals at more than 600 community, technical and junior colleges across the United States, Canada and Bahamas. District 4 consists of Arkansas, Colorado, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas and Wyoming.
