Gobble, gobble at Highland Elementary
More than 300 parents and students turned out for a pre-Thanksgiving feast at Rifle’s Highland Elementary school Wednesday, Nov. 19. This event was part of the weekly community night series started by Highland Elementary principal Howard Disney and school counselor Tim Fifer in an effort to help parents connect with their children and learn what their kids are doing in school.
Highland staff and parent volunteers cooked more than a dozen turkeys for the feast, while parents and community members provided all of the side dishes. The next community night will be held Wednesday, Dec. 3, from 6-8 p.m. at Highland Elementary.
