Terry and Drenda Murchison, who run Silt’s Murchison Wagon Works, are featured in the current edition of Farm and Ranch Living magazine. The couple are profiled and talk about their hobby, restoring and rebuilding old horse-drawn wagons. Since the Murchisons started their first wagon project nearly 30 years ago ” they gave a neighbor half a hog in exchange for an old hay wagon ” they’ve gone on to rebuild nearly 100 different wagons.

In the early days, the couple also purchased a pair of Percheron mares and began entering driving competitions. When folks saw the Murchisons’ wagon-making handiwork, word began to spread and they’ve begun to produce award-winning wagons that have been used on both private ranches and by Budweiser and Coors breweries. They’ve restored antique wagons and made working reproductions of chuckwagons, buggies and even sheepherder wagons, as well as making and truing wheels for horse-drawn carriages. All of this in addition to the family’s other business, Tally Ho Shires and its annual summertime kids’ camp.
