Couples’ workshop

An all-day couples’ workshop entitled “Couple’s Renewal” will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, at “A Spiritual Center” in Carbondale. Take a look at the new paradigm for partnership, transcend power struggles and recognize and reprogram “dirty fighting” patterns. $100 per couple if you register before Jan. 31. Spellebration teams sought



Three-person teams are being sought to participate in the 11th annual “Spellebration 2004” fund-raiser for Literacy Outreach and CMC Learning Labs. The event takes place at 6 p.m. on Friday, March 5, at the historic Hotel Colorado. This year’s Spellebration theme (for event attire) is “How the West was Won.” The Spellebration team entry fee is $200, and team sponsorships by companies, organizations and others are always welcome. Spellers will be provided to sponsors if needed. A silent auction is part of the Spellebration activities; anyone wanting to donate auction items should contact Literacy Outreach at 945-5282. The team entry deadline is Feb. 20. A study guide and Spellebration rules will be mailed to the team captain upon receipt of registration.

Baxter Peak logging project open house



An open house will be held from 3-7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 5, at the Rifle Ranger District conference room to discuss the opportunity to salvage a large area of spruce trees, killed in the 1940s and ’50s near Baxter Peak (approximately nine miles north of Glenwood Springs). Investment workshop

Dave Weimer, Edward Jones’ investment representative in Carbondale, will host a financial workshop for individual investors, running from 6:30-8 p.m. Feb. 9, 16 and 23 at Edward Jones’ Carbondale office (0326 Highway 133, Suite 110). Enrollment fee is $15 per person. Information: 963-4513.

Free Spanish-language homebuyers’ workshop

A free Homebuyer Educational Workshop will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 21 at St. Vincent’s Catholic Church, 250 Midland Ave., Basalt. Free child care is included. The class is presented entirely in Spanish. A free continental breakfast at 8:30 a.m. Preregistration is required: call 544-8137.
