Register to Vote

On Saturday, Feb. 7, The Roaring Fork Peace Coalition will be registering voters of all political affiliations at the City Markets in Carbondale and El Jebel, the Safeway in Glenwood and the Glenwood Springs Mall. The volunteers will also have information available concerning the upcoming caucuses on April 13 and how to get more involved in your party’s action. The deadline for voters who wish to be involved in the Colorado caucuses is Friday, Feb. 13. Don’t miss your chance to make an impact in your party’s platform!

Kids Voting project coming



Kids Voting is coming to our local school districts. The program teaches kids a hands-on approach to democracy and the importance of voting ” help is needed to get it going! At 9:30 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 9, there will be a meeting at the CMC Blake Center in Glenwood Springs, Room G (3rd floor). If you want to volunteer or get more information, please join us.

An informational session on learning disabilities such as dyslexia and hyperactivity will be held from 7-8:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 9, at The Abbott Lodge at The Learning Camp in Gypsum. Reservations/directions: Ann Cathcart, (970) 524-2706.

Customer service beats the Big Boxes

The Glenwood Springs Chamber Resort Association Presents: “Customer Service: Your Ace of Spades in Dealing With Big Box Retailers,” held on Thursday, Feb. 12. Presented by David Aaker, CEO of the Palm Springs Chamber of Commerce. Session 1, for retailers and service staff, 7:30-9 a.m. at Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park. Includes continental breakfast and tram ride. Tram will begin running at 6:45 a.m. Session 2, for professional office staff, noon to 1:30 p.m., Glenwood Springs Community Center, includes lunch and soft drinks. $20 for chamber members and businesses in the DDA, $35 for nonmembers. $100 for entire staff of 5 or more.
