The town of New Castle encourages interested locals to attend a town parks planning meeting at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 26, at New Castle Town Hall. The agenda will include a review of a “wetlands experience” project including fishing ponds, water features for children and educational displays proposed for the existing Alder Park. Other discussion will focus on planning for a new community park to be located south of Castle Valley Boulevard in the vicinity of Kathryn Senor Elementary School. Information: 984-2311.

The Positive Parenting Series continues in El Jebel at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 26. This week’s topic is on Power Struggles. Learn to avoid the pitfalls of power struggles, create win-win situations and gain your kids’ cooperation and respect. The Thursday evening series runs through March 18 at Aspen Health and Harmony (located on Highway 82, directly across from City Market). Next week’s topic is Positive Discipline, focusing on logical consequences and alternatives to time-out. Information: 927-6866.

The Congregational Church of the Valley will be holding its Ash Wednesday Service at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 25. The church is located at 6th and Home Streets in Silt. Everyone is invited. Information: the Rev. Jim Warn, 625-4320.
