Preview Basalt’s First River Park

The Town of Basalt invites all interested citizens to an open house from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Monday, April 26, at Town Hall to preview plans for the first in a series of riverfront parks along the Roaring Fork River.

Bingo and burritos

KDNK Radio holds bingo every Monday night at Dos Gringos Burritos in La Fontana Plaza off of Highway 133 in Carbondale. Games start at 7:15 p.m. but come early to get a seat and set up. Cash prizes, progressive bingo and pull tabs create fun for the whole family. All proceeds benefit KDNK Community Radio. Information: 963-0139.

Hazardous waste

collection

The City of Glenwood Springs will hold a household hazardous waste collection event from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 24, at 1016 School St., next to the Glenwood Springs Recycling Center. Hazardous waste will be accepted by appointment from private parties only. For information or to make an appointment, call 945-5375.

Makeover entry forms available

Entry forms for the Glenwood Springs Mother’s Day Makeover are now available at the following locations: Cutting Loose Hair Salon, The Flower Mart, Robin’s Hallmark, The Rendez-vous Restaurant, Mountain Valley Weaving, Main Street Gallery, Confetti Design, Mona Lisa’s, Anderson’s, Summit Canyon, Night and Dance, Jewels and Gems, Village Inn and City Hall. Entries must be received no later than 5 p.m. April 29 at City Hall or a participating business. Information: 384-6477.

The Glenwood Springs Community Center announces Anusara yoga workshops beginning April 29. Anusara Yoga promotes optimal alignment for increased strength, flexibility and stamina in a warm-hearted, fun, and challenging class. Must be over 16; suitable for all levels. Information: 384-6300.

Celebrate Arbor Day

in Carbondale

The Carbondale Tree Board will mark Arbor Day by planting trees 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, April 24, at Hendrick Park. Look for the tent west of Highway 133 off of Hendrick Road. The event will be held rain or shine, so dress appropriately for the weather. Please bring work gloves and a water bottle. Area merchants will provide lunch. Information: 963-1307.

Basalt High School

Presents ‘Bye Bye Birdie’

Basalt High School Drama Club presents “Bye Bye Birdie” at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, April 23 and 24, and at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 25, at the Basalt Middle School Auditorium. The cast features 25 Basalt High students. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students; senior citizens are free. Information: 925-8987, ext. 6.

Brainstorm about

Carbondale schools

A brainstorming session for Carbondale schools, nonprofit organizations, government, and interested community members will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 29, at the library in the Carbondale Middle School at 455 S. 3rd St. The purpose of this meeting is to discuss the facilities master plan, upcoming bond issues and potential partnerships in the redevelopment of the Carbondale Middle School and the Carbondale Elementary School.
