Running through May 16, this annual exhibit showcases the work of schoolchildren from more than 40 schools and youth organizations from Aspen to Eagle, Marble and Parachute. Information: 384-2165.Antiques AuctionThe Grand Valley Historical Society presents a large auction of antiques, furniture, western collectibles, jewelry and art at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 24, at the Old Grand Valley High School Gym in Parachute. The auctions proceeds will go toward restoring the old Battlement Mesa Schoolhouse. There will be live music during preview time, which starts at 8:30 a.m. Coffee and donuts, and lunch with homemade pie will be for sale. Five performances are scheduled, including the New York Theatre Ballets The Nutcracker and the Glenn Miller Orchestra. A season ticket is just $35 for adults, $15 for students and $80 for a family. Box 214, Glenwood Springs, CO 81601.Canine Good Citizen AssessmentGet your dog certified at a canine good citizen assessment at 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 28, or Friday, April 30, at the Glenwood Springs True Value. Cost is $10 for the evaluation and $5 to AKC to register your dog. RSVP and information: Canine Country School, 970-524-8724.Recycling Center seeks volunteersThe Glenwood Springs Recycling Center has ongoing plans to build several gardens around its lot and paint murals on the sides of surrounding metal buildings. If you are a gardener or artist, or would simply like to volunteer some elbow grease, stop by the center during operating hours: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays. The center is also looking for plant donations from the community. Information: 945-2010.Tree Sales CompleteBookcliff, Mount Sopris and South Side Conservation Districts have completed their yearly tree sales. Landowners purchased 9,040 trees this year. Trees will be available for pickup from 1-6 p.m. Tuesday, April 27, at the Garfield County Road & Bridge Shop at 7300 Highway 82 south of Glenwood Springs. Some species will be for sale during the pickup hours; no phone orders will be taken. Information: 945-5494, ext. 101.Charity Golf TournamentThe second annual golf tournament benefiting Garfield County Search & Rescue will take place at 1 p.m. Friday, May 21, at the Rifle Creek Golf Club. Entry fee is $100, and includes greens fees, golf cart and evening dinner buffet, plus prizes and giveaways. The tournament is also looking for community members and businesses to sponsor a hole at $100 each. Please enter the tourney or sponsor a hole by May 1. Information: 625-4352.
