Redstone Inn tour precedes planning meeting

A tour of Redstone Castle will come together at 11 a.m. Friday, May 14. Participants will meet in the room to the right, just inside the front door of the Redstone Inn. The tour will last approximately one hour to allow time for lunch between the tour and the planning meeting, which begins at 1 p.m. at the inn.



RFOV workingon Jeanne Golay Trail

The Roaring Fork Outdoor Volunteers are holding a trail work day on the Jeanne Golay Trail Saturday, May 15. Work includes installation of water bars and redirection of the deep ruts caused by erosion. Things get started at 8:30 Saturday morning and conclude at 4 p.m. with dinner and a party. Any and all work time is appreciated. Bring gloves, water and a sack lunch. RFOV will supply shovels, picks and other tools. Register: http://www.RFOV.org.



Whitewater parkdonations needed

The planned Glenwood Whitewater Park will improve and enhance recreational opportunities and transform Two Rivers Park into a greenway, according to the Glenwood Springs Chamber Resort Association. Firefighters group shows off new vehicles

The Burning Mountains Firefighters’ Association invites the public to an open house at all three stations from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 15, to view its new fleet: three water tenders, three rescue vehicles, a staff car and a utility vehicle. Information: 876-5738.

Splendor Mountain Spa presents four upcoming workshops: Thai Massage with Susan Wilmot, May 21-23; Practical Herbal Wisdom with Lynn Albers, June 7-9; Massage for Everyone with Michael Mary Onewing, June 11-13; and Beaded Jewelry Making with Mindy Katay June 26. Contribute to MissStrawberry Days

Corporate sponsorships are now available for the Miss Strawberry Days Scholarship Fund. On June 18, three Miss Strawberry Days contestants will be awarded scholarships in the amounts of $2,000, $1,500 and $1,000. To sponsor them, call Joni Bates at 945-6589 or Ginger Watts at 945-8169.

Lions Clubat Rifle Rendezvous

The Rifle Lions Club will hold a pancake breakfast Saturday and Sunday, May 22-23, at the Rifle Rendezvous. The group will also sell ice cream floats throughout the day. These are fund-raisers for the Lions Club, with proceeds going to providing vision exams and eyeglasses for children and individuals who cannot otherwise afford them.
