Road construction begins

The city of Rifle has announced that construction will begin on the Airport Road improvement project Monday, Oct. 13, to widen and straighten the two-lane road to three lanes and relocate the water booster station. Completion is expected in the first quarter of 2004.

Glenwood springs’ leaf collection continues through Saturday, Nov. 22, at the leaf recycling site adjacent to the Glenwood Springs Airport. Leaves only, the recycling project cannot accommodate tree limbs and branches.

Affordable housing

work session

The Roaring Fork School District will hold an affordable housing work session from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14, at the district office, 1405 Grand Ave., Glenwood Springs. Members of the public and press are invited to listen to the discussion facilitated by housing specialist Kathy McCormick of McCormick and Associates in Boulder. The meeting with school board members, Healthy Mountain Communities and other local affordable housing advocates follows an extensive housing survey and report completed by the consulting firm this summer.
