Kerry supporters gather
Anyone wishing to learn more about Senator John Kerry’s presidential campaign is welcome to attend a meeting of Kerry supporters at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 20, at the Commissioner’s Room at the Courthouse Annex in Glenwood Springs.
Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park weekend events
Ride the Iron Mountain Tramway free from 4-8 p.m. Friday, May 21, and enjoy drink and appetizer specials at the Exclamation Point Restaurant & Bar. Saturday, May 22, is Astronomy Night, when you can join local astronomers at the top of Iron Mountain after dark for a great view of the comets and planets.
Yoga workshop scheduled
Aspen Health & Harmony is hosting a “Yin Meets Yang” yoga workshop from 5-7:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 22. AHH is located across the highway from El Jebel’s City Market in the Wind River Tree Farm. Information: 704-9642.
Food distribution on tap Saturday

Carbondale Rotary Club accepting grant applications
The Carbondale Rotary Club is now accepting applications for its spring 2004 community service grants that are available to individuals and organizations involved in projects that will benefit the Carbondale community. Pick up an application at Carbondale Town Hall; turn them in by May 31. Information: 963-6363.
Learn Thai massage
Splendor Mountain Spa is offering a Thai-based massage workshop May 21-23. Thai massage is practiced on a padded floor through clothing. Information and registration: 945-7454.
USS Sperry Shipmates Sought

Lions sponsor kids’ vision screening
Vision testing will be held from 9:30 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 22, at Amber’s Playhouse in the Apple Tree Center in New Castle. The New Castle Lions Club is sponsoring the non-invasive photo-screening that can detect most problems that cause poor vision in young children. Testing is for children ages 9 months to 6 years.
Benefit for Gracie McSwain Family
There will be a garage sale to benefit the Gracie McSwain family from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 22, at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church. Gracie was bit in the face by a dog in Glenwood Springs earlier this month. Pre-priced items in good condition will be collected from 7:30-9:30 a.m. and 3:30 -5:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday at the church. Information: 947-9980 or 945-5010.
