Re-2 Director of Districtwide Services
Prepare to be WOWed!
If you are up for some astronomically good fun, Rifle High School will be the place to be on May 6. That is when Re-2’s typical high school will become transformed into Planet WOW.
Planet WOW is the coolest place in the Re-2 universe. It is the place to see what kind of work the children of Garfield Re-2 can do in a highly engaged atmosphere.
The event is designed to showcase the extraordinary lesson design of teachers, and the high quality work that students produce as a result of those lesson plans. It is all part of the district’s overall, district-wide school reform model ” the focus of which is WOW or working on the work.
“This is an opportunity for our community to see some of the best work that our teachers and students have produced over the last year,” said Riverside Dean of Students Diana Humphrey, one of the event coordinators. “We hope that it will prove an opportunity for parents, grandparents and community members at large to get an understanding of WOW and the 10 design qualities that go into creating a WOW lesson.”
There will be astronomical live performances from various Re-2 entities, and many DestiNation ImagiNation teams from across the district. Community members will be able to check out the stellar visual arts work created by the students of Re-2, read the far-out literary work that students produced and try their hand at the mind-boggling math work that the Re-2 students produce.
Humphrey is hoping that more than parents come to the event.
“If you are a constituent of the Garfield Re-2 School District, you should be informed about what is going on day in and day out in the district. This event will give everyone the opportunity to see what is going on in Garfield Re-2,” she explained. “Plus, it will be a whole lot of fun”
If the sights and sounds of Planet WOW get your stomach grumbling, a chili dinner will hit the spot. Price is just $2 per person.
Drive your space cruiser to the first-ever, first annual WOW showcase on Thursday, May 6, at Rifle High School. The out-of-this-world event will run from 6:30-9:30 p.m. Don’t miss this opportunity to visit the coolest place in the Garfield Re-2 universe and see what amazing things our students can do.
