Readers say thanks

My family is so very grateful to this community. By expressing its support towards us during our recent and ongoing sorrow, we have been surrounded and overwhelmed by thoughts and phone calls, flowers, food, cards and love. Thank you one and all for your caring condolences. It has helped us to cope, and will remain in our hearts forever.

Starting with the quick response of the EMS crews who worked with him at home prior to taking him to the ER at Valley View, special thanks should go to the fast-paced professional and dignified care given by Lt. Paramedic Chad Harris, Firefighter EMT Jesse Hood, Firefighter EMT Rob Jones, Reserve Fighter EMT Josh Alison, Engineer/EMT Peter Bradshaw and FF/EMT I Chris Bornholdt.

The Valley View ER team was very knowledgeable, professional, and their care of Marty was extraordinary. Special thanks to Dr. Michael Stahl and Dr. Marti Oppegard, Willa Higuera and Cameron Storff. Jay Kaufman, the respiratory therapist, took care of Marty’s heavy needs both in the ER and in the ICU. We hope we have not missed any of your names.

We cannot commend enough the Intensive Care Teams, for their care over three days and nights. Some of the names for special thanks: Dr. Marti Oppegard, Gabriella Haftel, Katherine Peterson, Deb Meador, Sherry Cooer, Wendy Kuhlmann, Judy Burke, Ann Martin, Sharon Close, Terry Harvey, Willa Higuera.

Very special thanks and hugs to Kai Carlson (K.C.) who helped us through the last hour. And of course special thanks to our own doctor, Al Saliman, who assisted Marty through his years of needs.

You all will remain in our hearts.

Jean Martensen, daughter and sons
