It is such a great feeling to see all of the adults who are committed to the children in our community. On behalf of the Aspen Music Festival and School, I wish to thank all of the host families who opened their homes to students from the Colorado Springs Youth Symphony Associations Encore! Youth Orchestra this past week. For all of your care, cartage, friendship, support and even mentoring, we cant thank you enough. While these children performed like professionals (13 concerts in 31⁄2 days), their average age was 14. Having families to provide a home-away-from-home atmosphere is the most important part of a project such as bringing the youth symphony together.Encore! performed a dozen of the 13 concerts in all towns, from Glenwood Springs to Aspen, mostly in school venues. Two daytime concerts as well as the final Family Concert were in Harris Concert Hall in Aspen. We wish to thank all the schools for providing us space for the orchestra and its audiences, for lunches and equipment and for interrupting their very busy schedules at this time of year. These children from Colorado Springs enjoy sharing their love for music with our communities, and we appreciate everyones help in being able to bring the Encore! Youth Symphony here.Sincerely yours,Deborah BarnekowDirector of Educational OutreachAspen Music Festival and School
