Readers Say Thanks
On behalf of the students, families and staff of Our School in Glenwood Springs, I wanted to take this opportunity to thank the Garfield County Childcare Program for the generous grant we recently received for quality enhancement in our infant room.
Our infant program began in June 2003, and the grant has made a huge difference in the quality of our program.
It is so wonderful that Garfield County is investing in our children through its interest in, and support of quality child care.
It is difficult to operate a child-care center in this valley for a variety of reasons, especially a center that includes infant/toddler care. Knowing that we have some local support gives us the encouragement and hope we need for continued growth and success.
A special thanks goes out to Carrie (Podl) Haberern for her constant love and tireless efforts to support the children and staff in child-care programs in Garfield County; she is an amazing supporter, and we are grateful to have such an invaluable resource in our community.
Also to Joni Goodwin and the gals at KidsFirst Glenwood Springs for their knowledge and support, and Bertha Campbell for her undeniable wisdom and energy in the field of early childhood education.
We are so lucky to live in an area that supports and values children and early childhood education, and I am proud to be a part of this community.

Our employers, Dr. Mike Doherty and Diane, Trent and Susan Blizzard for their compassion, strength and support. Betsy and Mickey for hugs and tissues. KJ for letting Larry vent. Barb and Doug for instant child care. Bandy for taking two days off work to hold my hand and keeping me going. Kevin for forwarding fliers to GJ. Tracy, Paula, Britta, Nancy, Thelma, Joyce, Deborah for understanding and putting up flyers.
Special thanks to my sisters Pamela and Suzanne. They’d make private investigators proud. My great-nephew Gabriel for being born a little early and letting me share in this joy. My niece Nicole for going into labor early. My niece Melissa for her humor and her faith in God. My nephew Adam for being such a great cousin to our Jackaroni. Jack for understanding and forgiving Mom and Dad when we were stressed or forgetful.
To the community as a whole, for those of you that hugged me on the street or prayed with us, we thank you. To the store owners for letting us put up flyers. To our daughter Ashley. We love you and are glad that you’re alive and safe. Also darling Ashley, you are soooo grounded!
