I just would like to take this opportunity to say thanks to the Aspen and Basalt police departments for participating in the Torch Run for Special Olympics. It was so awesome to see the police officers run or bike down Highway 82 to Glenwood.I would like to send out a special thanks to the Aspen Volunteer Fire Department for joining in the torch run. I like the flashing lights as we went down the highway. Raul and I also ran and biked with the Carbondale Police Department from Glenwood Springs to Eagle with the torch. It was so beautiful and fun with my friends.I enjoy the special time to run-bike with the best officers that protect the Roaring Fork Valley and run the torch across Colorado.Your Special Olympian,David HayesCarbondale

A heartfelt thanks is sent to all who supported us during our time of crisis and the loss of our beloved Rick Carney. The Carbondale Fire and Rescue and Police Department were so quick and professional. The Valley View Cancer Center and Valley View Hospital with their doctors, nurses and loving care helped ease the long illness. Dr. Bill Robinson, Dr. Al Saliman, Judy Wilson, Annie Johnson and Terry Nightingale at the cancer center were always available and we felt Rick got the best of care. The many friends who helped organize, give tributes and bring food to the memorial service contributed to making this a very special occasion for us and a true celebration of Ricks life. The Rick Carney Memorial Page by Carol Dopkin Realty in the Aspen Times touched our hearts. All the cards, flowers, calls, memorial contributions and friends helped us all ease the pain. What a wonderful community we live in. We feel so blessed and wish all a happy life. The Rick Carney clanCarbondale

We want to publicly thank Ivy Vogel of the Post Independent staff for her June 1 article in regard to our eight-year garden project in West Glenwood. Ivy is a first-rate writer, and she was a very courteous and nice visitor to our home. Likewise, we were very pleased with the photographer involved, Kelley Cox. Watch for their work.Visitors to our garden are welcome. Just call ahead. 105 Tanager Drive. We hope that other gardeners in the Glenwood area will call the Post to share their work. Maybe there will be a push to reawaken the mid-1900s reputation of Glenwood as a city of gardens particularly roses.Buzz remembers those days. Do you? Thanks again!Buzz and Valerie CooperWest Glenwood
