The Marble Historical Society wishes to express appreciation to all that contributed to making our fund-raising effort on Memorial Day weekend, which centered around quarry tours, a wonderful success. It takes a real team effort to make this type of event successful: public service announcements, volunteers for cooking breakfast and lunch, coordinators to organize the tours, tour guides, and the participation of the marble quarry owners. Of course, all would not be possible if it were not for the generosity of those who took the tour.Despite the challenge of weather snow, rain, sleet, wind and a little bit of sunshine the weekend event was highly successful in many ways. Everyone that participated united in common goals … fun, education and raising money which is dedicated to the completion of the reconstruction of the Bell Tower in Marble historically used to alert the town of emergencies and fires. Our sincere appreciation for everyones support and participation.Kimberley Perrin, secretaryMarble Historical Society

My wife and I have just today returned to Great Britain, having had a two-week vacation in the beautiful state of Colorado. We had a fantastic time, saw wonderful scenery and met lovely people who were without exception very friendly. The most memorable part of our vacation was the four days we spent in Glenwood Springs, which combined interesting things to do and see, and for me, being a fan of American railroads, lots of trains. However, I wanted to highlight two particular aspects of Glenwood Springs which I think brings particular credit, namely the Hampton Inn where the staff were so very kind and helpful and made our stay that bit more special, and all the folks involved in the tramway to the top of Iron Mountain and the staff in the restaurant, too. Having spent an interesting morning viewing the caverns, we returned to the top of the mountain in the evening for a nice meal. Everybody, and I mean everybody, was kind and courteous from the guy who put us in the tram car at the bottom of the mountain to the staff in the restaurant. Furthermore the food and wine were first class. I am sure we will return to Colorado in the future and will definitely be spending time in Glenwood Springs again, too.Jan and Grant LovettBath, England
