Readers Say Thanks

The family of Shirley Montover extends its sincere gratitude to each and every one of you who have been so kind and compassionate to us during Shirley’s illness and death. The staff at Valley View Hospital took such wonderful care of her, and at the same time, were very good to her and to us. To all our family and friends, having your love and support has helped to ease the sadness and loss we are feeling. It helps knowing that so many care, and thank you for everything you have done for us. God bless all of you.

Sincerely,

Leno, Joe and Mary, and all of Shirley’s grandchildren

All of us would like to thank the following people for their generous donations to make our third annual fishing derby a success: City Market, for the hot dogs and buns; KISS Country, for the advertising and the soda; and, as always, the DOW and Perry Will for the free fishing poles and assistance.

We all had a great time and look forward to next year.

Thanks again,

Jerri Walker

We are Basalt Girl Scout Troop 265. We have just returned from a fabulous trip to Florida and would like to share some of our experiences with you and thank this wonderful community for their support.

Our trip began spending some time with another Girl Scout troop in Fort Lauderdale and they treated us to a barbecue at the leader’s house. Then we were off to Key Largo to spend five awesome days at Marinelab diving and snorkeling. We participated in reef fish counts for Reef Environmental Education Foundation, studied reef restoration, habitats of the Keys, advanced mangrove ecology, visited the world’s only underwater hotel (where we watched the movies “The Abyss” and “Sphere”), visited an underwater laboratory, and finished our week diving the World War II wreck, the Benwood.

Without the support of many people, we would not have achieved this goal. We would like to thank all the people who bought cookies from us, had their car washed, played our games at Basalt River Days, bought chairlift chairs at the 2002 chairlift sale, and the generous grants we received from the American Legion Post 194 and the Clay Crossland Foundation. We appreciate your support!

Look for the upcoming chairlift chair sale on July 3 at Buttermilk. Our next goal is to go to the Girl Scout Center in London in 2006 to learn about Europe and do a community service project there!

With most sincere thanks.
