I received the world’s sweetest phone call the other day. The New Castle Historical Society read about our project to film a documentary, “The Last of the Cowboys,” and LaRue Wentz called me. Her words were, “We’re going to have a big party with Twirp Anderson and John Sommers playing the music ” food and fun ” and afterwards, we will pass the hat to help fund your project.”
New Castle, LaRue, Historical Society, you are wonderful! You’re truly the heart of America, and you still live by the old-time values this country was founded on.
Thank you, my friends,

We would like to thank Glenwood Springs Fire Department emergency medical technicians Chad Harris, Jason Grosse and Randy Hill for inservicing us on care of the injured school-age child and cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification on Aug. 25-26. Our collaboration with vital community agencies and the school health services enhances the health and safety of all students as well as the adults in each building.
Our sincerest thanks,
Mary Jo Spain R.N.

We understand now why there are so many letters of thanks in the Post Independent. This is a truly remarkable community. When Eileen was lost near Edwards last week, members of Glenwood’s 100 Club eagerly joined Eagle County Search and Rescue to look for her. So did rescue teams from throughout the area and the National Guard. Members of our church were joined in prayer by members of churches throughout the area. High Tails in West Glenwood cared for our dog. Our neighbors in New Castle have cared for us since our return. We offer our profound thanks to all of them. Thanks, too, to Dennis Webb, who wrote a thorough and accurate story about our experience.
After 30 years at our previous home, we still often felt like outsiders. Here, after a year, we feel welcome. That would have been gift enough. The help and support offered by both friends and strangers is both humbling and overwhelming. We feel very blessed to have found this place and these people. Thank you.

On behalf of the Valley Bandits 14-year-old baseball team and coaches, I would like to publicly thank our sponsors: Toby’s Vacuum Truck Service, American Soda and Williams Production. We had a great season. Thank you very much.
