Readers Say Thanks
In spite of the current economic challenges faced by us all, once again our Garfield County residents and merchants have stepped up and given their support for our community wellness. Proving once again this area is a premier place to live! Our Eagles Lodge, FOE 215, suffering financial strife, asked the community for auctionable items. The response was overwhelming in quality and quantity. Donors contributed antiques, a motor home, autos, beds, books, collectible memorabilia, dishes, doors, furniture, construction tools, valuable glass, porcelain, jewelry, silver settings, tables, chairs, computers, printers, office supplies, pianos … however, we don’t believe we saw a kitchen sink. Our local merchants supplied us with great items and gift certificates for haircuts, massages, dinners, hardware, clothing, department store goods, lawn care and gracious discounts on auto care, tires and auto supplies. All of the items had tremendous value for our cause.Thank you and thank all of you again. We extend a special appreciation to the Caswell family for their donation of numerous items from their estate. We of the Eagles 215 send your family our heartfelt condolences and healing process sympathies. There is still so much thanks to be given to so many places. AAA R&J Auction’s owner, Randy Smith, wife Jean, and staff donated uncountable hours and personal expense to make this event successful. Our special thanks to Randy, Jean and crew for their greatly appreciated efforts, especially for Randy’s unequalled auctioneering skills. We must acknowledge the vendors who carried our debt, from our utilities suppliers, food and beverage, to our toilet paper vendor. They have worked with us weekly to keep the daily operations happening. We will soon be current on our indebtedness – such uncommon effort in such an insensitive business world. Thank you!The redistributed proceeds of the auction, while some go back to the major item donors, as promised, will be used to shore up the financial inequities at FOE 215. The proceeds will plug many holes in our leaky boat and help ensure the future of our 102-year-old Fraternal Order of Eagles 215 so that we can continue to aid the community with our scholarship fund, Cancer fund, SHARE, Thanksgiving dinners and numerous other community and nationwide charities. For the buyers, donors, auctioneers, Eagle member helpers, vendors, suppliers – if someone walks up and kisses you, don’t have them arrested – it is just an appreciative Eagle member headed for the Lodge!Thank you and God bless!Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge 215
