Readers Say Thanks

The Glenwood Springs Lions Club wants to publicly thank a number of people who helped make a huge success of the recent Denver Broncos-Glenwood locals basketball game at Glenwood Springs High School gym.

Funds from that charity event made possible a $3,500 gift to Valley View Hospital for a new mini-microscopic video camera for eye surgery.

Specifically, Glenwood Lions extend their sincere thanks to Kim Richardson and the GSHS cheerleaders, to Nick Senn and Brian Derby for refereeing skills, to Jan Scarlett and Steve Cable of GSHS, to Andy Worline for organizing the Glenwood locals team (rah, rah!), to Los Desperados restaurant for hosting the Broncos team after the game, to KMTS Radio, the Glenwood Springs Post Independent, WestStar Bank, Valley View Hospital, and to all financial sponsors and other supporters of the event (see our forthcoming ad for a complete listing).

We want to extend a very big thank-you to Mike for the caring help he gave us when our car broke down on main street in Glenwood on Monday afternoon. He towed us to the garage, and while we were making arrangements for a rental car, he left. We can’t remember his last name, so we’re hopeful you will print this letter, and he will see it.

This world is full of violence and hate, but then along comes Mike, and it renews one’s faith in the good people we know do exist. He wouldn’t take any pay, and he even offered to loan us a car to get to our home in Eckert ” all this from a total stranger.

We’ve always believed in angels, and we know that Mike is certainly one. Thanks so very much, Mike.
