Readers Say Thanks
Please allow me to offer well-deserved thanks to a few local folks. First, I would like to thank Larry Thompson from our citys engineering office. He graciously donated five wonderful maps of the city to our third-grade classrooms at Glenwood Springs Elementary School. These maps have seen a great deal of use and came to us at no cost. Imagine your tax dollars supporting your tax dollars. Think of it as a buy one, get one free deal.I would also like to thank CMC, Jim English, Mr. Emery and Scott Marr for supporting our class with CMCs video conferencing equipment. With their support we were able to meet our pen pals in Boston, N.Y., as a culminating event. The children got a real kick out of interacting with their friends over this long-distance connection. If it does take a village to raise a child, then the children in Glenwood Springs are in good hands.Chad FilipskiGlenwood Springs Elementary
The Roaring Fork Family Resource Centers would like to thank American National Bank for their generous support of the First Annual Dandelion Dash Fun Run.We would also like to thank our terrific crew of volunteers who help out on race day, many of them teachers who came out on a Saturday to raise money for the kids in their school.A big thanks also goes out to the 44 racers who participated in the event. We believe a safe and strong school begins with happy, healthy children. The Roaring Fork Family Resource Centers raise money to provide children with medical, dental, vision care, and mental health services, tutoring and enrichment activities.Nancy La JoyRoaring Fork Family Resource Centers
On behalf of the entire staff at Glenwood Canyon Resort and Rock Gardens Rafting, we would like to thank all the locals who attended our open house on Saturday, May 21. More than 200 people enjoyed taking a look at the improvements made to the resort and had a super day of rafting on the Colorado River. The day was complete with ice cream provided by Dairy Queen, microbrews compliments of Glenwood Canyon Brewing Co., and music from our own Calab Whittington and his sons band, Green Broke. A special thanks to the Bank of Colorado, which played a big role in making our visions come to fruition. We are looking forward to a great summer!Kathy and Kevin Schneider, ownersGlenwood Canyon Resort-and Rock Gardens Rafting
