Readers say thanks

Dear Editor,I’m writing not only for myself, but on behalf of my family as well. We have sold our home of 11 years here in the valley and are moving on. I wanted to say goodbye to all the folks we have met or have become friends with over the years here in Glenwood. If we don’t see you before we leave, we wish the best for all of you in the future. Glenwood Springs has been a good friend to us and provided a healthy place for our kids to grow up. I personally had a great time sparring with my political foes in the Glenwood Springs Post Independentover the years and will miss that. Glenwood Springs is a beautiful place, and we will miss a lot of what it had to offer, except the long cold winters! So folks, in the words of Red Skelton, “Goodnight and may God bless.”The ColettisGlenwood Springs

Last Saturday, May 28, Ursula Shepherd/Valley Dog Rescue had a homeless dog adopt-a-thon in El Jebel and five dogs ended up going home with families. We would like to thank the Bank of Colorado for having us there. You are and always will be our No. 1 bank! A big thank-you goes to the newspapers and radio stations for advertising our successful event. Thank you to all of you who came by to give our dogs lots of lovin’ and for making them feel extra-special for a day! And last but not least, a big thank-you goes to the wonderful people who ended up adopting one of our rescue dogs and giving them a new home. We couldn’t have done it without you!Ursula ShepherdValley Dog RescueCarbondale

On behalf of the Glenwood Springs High School Athletic Department, I would like to thank all those medical personnel, nurses, interns and everyone else who helped with the athletic physicals on May 17 at Glenwood Medical Associates. More than 260 high school athletes had physicals in the course of the evening. I can’t emphasize enough how much we appreciate these people volunteering their time to give our athletes free physicals.I would also like to thank Glenwood Medical Associates, Orthopaedic Associates of Glenwood and Valley View Hospital for providing our professional trainer, Marni Barton. Marni takes care of our athletes like no other, and we certainly thank her for that also.Again, a heartfelt thank-you to all the medical professionals, and emergency services professionals who have taken such good care of our athletes and are always there when we need them.Steve Cable athletic directorGlenwood Springs High School
