Readers Say Thanks
Members of American Legion Post 83 of Glenwood Springs wish to thank you for caring and sharing the moments of the Memorial Day program at Rosebud Cemetery.
Your presence there was meaningful and greatly appreciated.
Guest speaker Jeff Cheney captured the overall feeling of the seriousness when he echoed the roll call for a recent dead buddy in combat. His name was called out three times with no answer each time, then taps was sounded for him as a way to say good-bye. Jeff, it was beautifully effective on such a day. Thank you.
Mark Hauptli, for the second year of invocation and benediction, thank you so much.
It is heartwarming to see hundreds of flags flying gently at our veterans’ graves. The help of the Rotary Club of Glenwood Springs, who adopted the posting of the flags as a personal project, made these colors flying a reality.
Boy Scout Troop 225 placed a permanent flag holder at each military grave. Thank you, young gentlemen.
Secia Klocke, our vocalist, and John and Michael Hoban, our buglers, certainly brought a feeling of beauty to the ceremony. Ambra Scarlett’s memories of Memorial Days past, both here and in Australia, gave us a sense of not standing alone.
To all of you wonderful, helping people, I thank you and salute you.
We appreciated the help of Kelley Cox, April Clark, Tom Martinez and Kay Vasilakis of the Glenwood Springs Post Independent.
Thank you for always being there with us in body and spirit.
