Readers Say Thanks
The Roaring Fork Conservancy would like to thank all of the participants, sponsors and volunteers who made River Float 2005 such a tremendous success. On June 11, we took more than 140 people down the Roaring Fork River, from Carbondale to Glenwood Springs, to experience the valley from the river’s perspective.
Thanks to the wonderful volunteer on-board river naturalists, participants learned invaluable information on wildlife, plants and water issues. Much thanks to Bob and Laurie Harris, Rich Zelter, Kevin Schneider and Christine Bourne.
Many thanks to all of our other sponsors who generously contributed! This event would not have been possible without the amazing community support we received. If you missed us this year, join us for River Float 2006.

Carbondale’s first Music and Lobster Fest, held Saturday, June 25, was a rousing success, with great live music all day and delicious lobster dinners for nearly 600 people. Close to 1,000 people came out to have a great dinner together in the Plaza with their friends and neighbors.
We owe a special thanks to Woodsie and the town recreation department for all their work in making the food and drink part of the Fourth Annual Mountain Music Fair so good.
Special thanks to Larry Ballenger and the public works folks for getting the Plaza together (and apart) for the music Friday night and the fest on Saturday. We have a great town staff, and they know how to put on an excellent party.
We had more than 50 local musicians come out and entertain us with their incredible talents. The addition of great food and drink made the event even better than the past three years.
Special appreciation to Bill Flanigan, Louis Girardot, Jimmy Polowchena, Carol and Curt Bruno, Jeff Jackel, Shawn O’Neil and my girls, M.M. and Shannon.
