Readers Say Thanks
This letter is to thank the many wonderful merchants and volunteers in our community who supported the Glenwood Springs seventh annual Girl Scout Jamboree. Once again, we had the privilege of going to Jackson Ranch, thanks to Louise and Carter Jackson.
The setting is always the perfect place for Girl Scouts, their moms and leaders to spend time together in the great outdoors.
This year’s Jamboree was once again a huge success due to contributions from all the wonderful people in town who donated supplies, food and cash contributions. Our thanks go to: APS Inc., Buffalo Valley Inn, City Market, Colorado Mountain College, Defiance Thrift Store, Downtown Drug, Elks Lodge 2286, Factory and Army Surplus, McDonald’s, Roaring Fork Dermatology and Wal-Mart.
Special thanks go to Ruth Edmonds and Andrea Holland-Sears who had a vision seven years ago of creating an experience for all Glenwood Springs Girl Scouts that would become a tradition. This event does not happen overnight. More than 20 adult volunteers participate before, during and after to make this such a memorable event.
I know, based on my own childhood experience as a Girl Scout, that Glenwood Springs Girl Scouts will treasure their experiences at Jamboree and reflect back on what they learned for many years to come.
Words can never express how much an experience like the Girl Scout Jamboree has on so many lives. My thanks to all, and we look forward to next year’s Jamboree.
