Readers Say Thanks

Members of the Lions Club of Glenwood Springs want to thank all who contributed used eyeglasses to our collection efforts this past fiscal year.

For the 12 months ending June 30, 2005, our club collected 1,077 pairs of glasses. Lions Club member Dr. Bill Hoover, of Valley Vision Clinic, has shipped them to the Lions recycling center in Midland, Texas, to be processed and cataloged. From Midland, glasses are dispensed to needy people in Mexico, Central America and overseas.

Collection boxes for used glasses are located in Defiance Thrift Store, Valley View Hospital, Glenwood Medical Associates, the CMC Senior Center, Glenwood Springs Library, and first United Methodist Church, as well as the Thrift Shop at 425 East Hopkins in Aspen.

Thanks to our families, friends and neighbors who made our 50th wedding anniversary such a wonderful happening. There were so many lovely cards. We are truly grateful.

We also want to thank the ladies of the Congregational Church of the Valley for the superb job they did.
