Readers Say Thanks

The residents of Slaughter Gulch would just like to extend our sincere thanks to the members of the following firefighter teams: Burning Mountains Fire Protection District, Upper Colorado River Interagency Fire Management Unit, Garfield County Sheriff’s Office, the Juniper Valley crew from the Rifle Correctional Facility and the Pike Hotshots. Without each and every one of your efforts and quick response, we may not have had a home.

It is nice to know that there are people like you out there, who are willing to take a risk to save someone else’s home and property, without even knowing them or giving a second thought to putting yourselves at risk. It is hard to put into words how very grateful we are to you.

We went out on Monday as the crew was wrapping it up. Each and every one of the crew members who remained talked to us and accepted our thanks. We asked if there was anything at all we could do for them, and the response from all was, “You just did.”

Job well done to everyone involved and once again, we can never express how very grateful we are for each and every one of you!
