Readers say thanks

On behalf of everyone at Glenwood Canyon Resort and Rock Gardens Rafting, we would like to thank all the visitors, locals, and our staff who contributed to the Raft for Disaster Relief fund-raiser over Labor Day weekend. We will be donating $1,000 to the Red Cross to help with Hurricane Katrina recovery efforts.

All the rafters were very enthusiastic to participate in the campaign.

Words of thanks will never be enough to express our gratitude for all of the help, support and prayers we have received from so many people in the Roaring Fork Community. We moved to this valley 11 years ago because we felt it was a great place to raise a family. Little did we know how true this is. This community has truly become our extended family.

The help and support we have received for Nathan’s medical fund raiser has been nothing short of a miracle. The money raised will be used for Nathan’s stem cell transplant and miscellaneous medical bills that are not covered by our insurance. Everyone’s support and prayers have helped to make a very difficult time bearable.

To all of our friends and community family, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for helping our son Nathan crush his “Mr. Yucky.”

Dear Editor,

An era came to a close Sept. 13 when the Sagebrush Singers shut their books, sung “Auld Lang Syne,” hugged one another, and said goodbye to 10 years of singing for others.

It was October 1995 when the group started. The handout said, “If you like to sing …” and that motto sustained members through 10 great years.

Doing special shows two times a year, they traveled from Aspen to Grand Junction, with stops in-between. Always ready to perform, they went to senior centers, nursing homes, assisted living, wherever they were invited.

It was a terrific run with great memories of rehearsals and shows, laughter and tears, and always music.

As they close their books on 10 wonderful years of spreading joy through song, they want to thank all those loyal audiences who showed love, friendship and support along the way.
