Readers say thanks

We the undersigned wish to take this opportunity to thank and congratulate the Roaring Fork Transportation Authority, the town of Carbondale and Garfield County for their completion of the Carbondale to Catherine Store section of the Rio Grande Trail. This brings us all one big step closer to realizing our community vision of a valleywide trail linking Aspen to Glenwood Springs, and beyond.

It is hard to imagine a better public investment. Transportation achieved with our muscles, rather than fossil fuels, decreases stress in our bodies as well as our biosphere. The completion of the Rio Grande Trail will make our community more attractive to residents and visitors alike, and creates a new place to see your neighbors in a friendly setting.

Everyone is invited to help celebrate the grand opening of this trail segment on Saturday, Oct. 29. Meet at Carbondale Town Hall at 11:30 to bike, skateboard, walk or push a stroller on all or part of this newly paved segment of the Rio Grande Trail!

Way to go RFTA; Keep it up!
