Readers Say Thanks

I just want to take time to thank all the people that had a part in the DA recall election – my energetic and faithful staff; all the judges who worked to get the ballots mailed out to those requesting absentee ballots, preparing supplies and also to the judges who worked the polling places and braved the cold nasty weather – all the ballots were delivered to the Courthouse by 8:40 p.m. Thanks to the media who graciously disseminated all the press releases; to the post offices in each town making sure ballots and cards were delivered; to the voters who looked at their voter cards and went to the correct polling places – we had fewer calls than in the past; to the representatives of the Republican and Democrat parties who volunteered to be observers during the ballot count – they have a better idea of what it takes to conduct an election after seeing it from behind the scenes; to the Garfield County Road and Bridge crew for delivering and setting up the voting booths; to Steve and Tyler for delivering the supplies to the polls; thanks to all the entities that let us use their facilities and helped my judges get the area set up; and a big thanks to Wayne Munster from the Secretary of State’s office for being present and helping in all ways; thanks to the citizens of Garfield County for taking time to honor the fact that voting is a privilege; and in case I forgot someone who helped with the election, thank you as well.We had 5,891 votes cast out of 23,155 active voters, equaling 25 percent turnout.May each one of you have a wonderful holiday season – now we can think “holidays!” Mildred Alsdorf Garfield County Clerk
