On Saturday, May 12, Roaring Fork High School hosted the Special Olympics Track and Field meet. The event was a complete success. We would like to thank a number of people who helped this wonderful occasion materialize. Fred Williams from the Carbondale Police Department and Ken Motsenbocker from the Carbondale Fire Department escorted our opening ceremonies with their emergency vehicles. Mr. Dale Parker was instrumental in providing access to the high school’s facilities. Carolyn Glasgow stepped up at the last minute as our volunteer photographer. The Glenwood Subway generously donated a party sub, and the Carbondale Subway also donated a number of subs for athletes to munch on. The athletes’ parents and support staff are also largely responsible for the success of this event. We are very grateful to everyone who played a part in the tremendous success of our 2006 track meet. The support our athletes experienced is proof that we live in a great valley, surrounded by generous and caring communities.Colleen BoddyChad FilipskiSpecial Olympics track and field coachesGlenwood Springs
