Readers say thanks

A great group of people are to thank for their combined and extensive efforts that still continue in the rescue of nine cats.Dr. Peter Langegger has been beyond wonderful in his work toward saving the cats. He spent time on days off, time fielding phone calls and questions, and never swayed once in going the extra mile to help these rescued animals. All the staff at Divide Creek Animal Hospital have been incredibly willing to help in so many ways; a huge thank you to Emily Langegger, Teri Mcguire, Dawn Miyake (vet tech), and a special thank you to Heather Martin (vet tech), who has taken it upon herself to care for a mother and her litter of newborns at her own home.Without the extremely generous help of the Friends of Rifle Animal Shelter and especially Nancy Jacobsen, this effort could not have been funded. The nameless individuals who rescued these animals in need out of the goodness of their hearts, and those who have provided excellent locations for them should sleep well for the huge great deed they have done. Please help spread the word to pet owners who do not spay or neuter their animals, that simply by contacting the local Animal Control through the Garfield County Sheriff’s Department, or your local vet or shelter, there are funds available to assist, and low-cost spay and neuter clinics. In addition to the nine animals saved and relocated to happier homes recently, dozens upon dozens of unwanted litters destined to starvation and neglect were prevented. Lastly, thank you to those who have dropped money in jars or written checks to the Friends of the Rifle Animal Shelter. Your money is doing good work right now.Tara MeixsellNew Castle
