On behalf of ABATE of Colorado, District 22, I would like to thank the sponsors, too many to list, and also our members who raised funds and contributed personally to our 2006 Pledge Ride. Proceeds of this years’ event were split with our co-beneficiary, Griffith Center for Children (formerly The Emily Griffith Center) of Rifle. Composed of more than 1,600 members throughout Colorado, ABATE is the state’s largest and most influential nonprofit motorcycle rights organization dedicated to rider education, training and freedom of the road. ABATE is active within communities through civic and political involvement, charitable events, donations and motorcycle-related activities.Joe CarpenterSiltABATE of ColoradoDistrict 22 representative
Thursday, Sept. 7, about 8:30 p.m., my car decelerated along Interstate 70, perhaps a half mile from Silt. My traveling friend, Ruth, and I walked to the Conoco/Go Fer convenience store in Silt. Lori Parsons, clerk, graciously permitted us to use the telephone to call my son in Meeker. While we were phoning, Lori relayed our plight to customers Tim and Sarah Pace. They offered to tow us to a garage in Rifle and would accept no compensation. Delbert Squires, the Paces’ uncle, assisted to guide my car. What wonderful, friendly Good Samaritans you have in your locality. Do give them all a complementary good message when you see them.Joan RogersAllenspark
