Trail building “ain’t for the timid,” and some very bold volunteers stood up to the cloudy and rainy weather to help out at the first ever Wulfshon Mountain Park Trail Building Day on Saturday, Sept. 16.Many thanks go out to David Hamilton and his crew with the Roaring Fork Outdoor Volunteers. This nonprofit group exemplified professionalism in planning, implementation and leadership throughout the trail building day. We are pleased to partner with RFOV for the duration of his project. The volunteers were able to complete almost half a mile of new trail through some very tough sections. We enjoyed the hands-on experience of building a trail that will certainly outlast us all. Thanks go out to the crew leaders of the RFOV; the veteran trail volunteers from RFOV who added valuable experience to our day; the special groups from YouthZone, GSHS Cross Country Team, The Roaring Fork Women’s Triathlon Team, and the new and old volunteers from the Friends of Wulfsohn Mountain Park. Our trails day would not be possible without donations from our generous sponsors. We thank you for sharing our vision of this great inner-city trial park. Thank you to The City of Glenwood Springs, Aspen Ski Company Environment Foundation, Glenwood Medical Associates, Glenwood Meadows Shopping Center, Glenwood Meadows Apartments and Factory Surplus. And what would a trails day be without a group feast. Our in-kind contributors nourished our bodies and souls with some great energy food. Thank you to Pepponino, Florindo’s, Magoo’s, Maple Table, Quizno’s, and Sacred Grounds. Know that you are appreciated. We will be having one more trail building day in October. If you are interested in joining us, please contact RFOV at (970) 927-8241 or rfov@sopris.net.
