Readers Say Thanks

This past weekend, my family and I were guests of Glenwood Springs, due to Operation Vacation. My wife and I would like to thank everyone involved with making this weekend possible. About a month ago, when I was still in Iraq, my vehicle was hit with an improvised explosive device. I was thrown from the vehicle and sustained a few broken bones, some stitches, and a nice concussion. Everyone who has seen the blast site and my vehicle say it is a miracle that I am alive. Since returning to the States, my wife and I wanted to get away for a weekend and spend good quality time together before I head back again. We had previously never heard of Operation Vacation, and were very surprised when Bob Johnson had contacted us about coming to Glenwood Springs for the weekend. We would like to give our utmost thanks to Bob for founding this organization, and doing something great for soldiers and their families. You are a great American. We would also like to thank Colorado Mountain Express drivers Debbie and Janice for driving us all those miles, Carolyn from the Chamber of Commerce, Marge from Body & Soul, Charlene from Mountain Man Nut & Fruit Co., and Rob, our cave tour guide at the Caverns. These people especially made our trip very enjoyable. We would also like to thank the businesses for donating their time and money to Operation Vacation: Holiday Inn Express, Berthod Motors, Glenwood Canyon Brewing Co., Fin’s, Juicy Lucy’s, Rosie’s Bavarian Restaurant, Village Inn, Glenwood Caverns and the Hot Springs Pool. Thank you all for a great weekend, and for your support of the soldiers. We didn’t do everything we wanted, so we will be back. Scott, Julie, and Lance HendricksonColorado Springs
