On Wednesday, Aug.1, I was in a rollover accident while driving a loaded tandem-axle dump truck on Snowmass Mountain. Many brave and skilled people came to my aid, and I would like to thank all of them.First, the Gould Construction truck drivers, and especially German Garcia, who was first on the scene and notified rescue personnel.Next, thanks to Steve Remo Williams and the Snowmass Bike Rangers and Gary Schultz of the Snowmass Ski Patrol and trail crew.I am especially indebted to the members of the Snowmass-Wildcat Fire Protection District. Special thanks to Mike Olsen and Travis Rohe. They were with me from start to finish. Travis risked everything to cut me from the crushed cab.Other Snowmass-Wildcat personnel on the scene were Jeff Edelson, Lance Spencer, Brandon Potter, captain Scott Arthur, and chief Steven Sowles. Many people were involved in the steep and difficult transport from the accident site to the ambulance waiting on Thorton Road.I was met at Aspen Valley Hospital by Dr. William Rodman and the most incredible emergency room staff. I only wish I could name everyone involved, they are the best. The following week was spent at Aspen Valley Hospital under the watchful care of Dr. Rodman and the most wonderful nursing staff anywhere. I would especially like to thank Jenny Grefe, Julie Jenkins, Jean Cornish, Linda Killian, Grace Mathews and Belinda Faulhaber.Special thanks to Jaret Godeski and everyone at Gould Construction.Lastly, many thanks to Trisha Scott, Annie Hoghaug, and Ivy Durand.Bob DurandGlenwood Springs
I want to thank Mary and Joe from Cedar Lodge Motel in Glenwood for supporting our troops.Officer Sgt. Burgos from the U.S. Army finished his tour of duty in Iraq, and came to our community via Ricomanpower, LLC (a private employment agency in the valley) for work. He is working with Integrity Plumbing in Basalt as a plumber, and needed a place to stay. The Cedar Lodge was helpful in allowing Sgt. Burgos to stay while he found a room for rent. Mary and Joe not only support our troops, but also support drug prevention workshops in our community. Whenever we have visitors come to Glenwood Springs, they open up the doors for them to stay and rest. Thank you very much, Cedar Lodge Motel!Gonzalez Counseling Services, LLCGlenwood Springs
