Colorado Mountain College is opening its eighth season of the Jim Calaway Honor Series concerts. Named in honor of this generous supporter of CMC, the series offers performances by world-class musicians and recognizes the outstanding contributions of community philanthropists. Donors to CMC’s new scholarship campaign will be honored during the upcoming Rifters concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16, at the Spring Valley Center’s New Space Theater. The CMC Scholar Campaign is raising funds that will support as many as 150 awards of up to $2,000, which will be available as early as 2008. Through the participation of numerous gracious donors, nearly $3 million has been raised so far, toward a goal of $4 million. I am deeply grateful to the donors whose contributions are making these scholarships possible: Pam Arsenault and Kip Wheeler, Judith Beattie, Jim Calaway, Kim Chang and Jim Condit, Herb and Kate Feinzig, Nancy Genova, Frances Ginsburg, Diane Goldberg, Nelson Gordon, Mark and Mary Gould, Bob Howard, Louise and Carter Jackson, Sandy Jackson, Randi Lowenthal, John and Sarah Mascotte, Cheryl Peterson, Tom and Suzi Philippe, Bob and Jaci Spuhler, Linda Stein, Karen Wing, Bob Young and my family. Please join me in honoring these special people at the concert.
