Readers Say Thanks

On behalf of the Salvation Army-Glenwood Springs, the Carbondale Rotary wishes to express its appreciation to all the generous contributors, the many bell ringing volunteers who tended the kettles, and the greater Carbondale community for its 2007 fundraising. Your efforts raised $17,191.93 at the kettles at City Market in Carbondale. This is almost $10,000 more than we raised last year!

Thank you to the members of the Carbondale Rotary and the Carbondale Aspen Glen Rotary whose members and member’s families did the bulk of the kettle ringing. A special thanks to the staff and management of Carbondale City Market for allowing us to use their facilities, and to the staff and management of American National Bank of Carbondale who helped with the bells and who counted all that cash. I would be remiss for not thanking David Hayes who spent over 20 hours bell ringing, and to Carbondale Rotary Bell Ringing Chair Mike Waski who was there for over 60 hours this year.

Again, a huge thank-you to everyone who made this such a successful effort. Happy New Year to all.

On Dec. 18, while driving on Midland Avenue on my way to work, I hit a patch of ice and my car went off the road and got stuck in a ditch. I am writing this letter to thank a young man named Kyle who drove a white pickup truck. I did not catch his last name, but I do want to publicly thank him as he went out of his way to turn around and come back and pull my car out of the ditch. With his quick assistance, we were able to avoid a hazardous situation. I would also like to thank all of the kind people who stopped and asked if I needed help.

This is a great valley to live in, especially with people such as Kyle!
