Readers say thanks
The New Castle Environmental Advisory Committee would like to thank the hundreds of families and individuals who came to learn alongside of us at the second annual Earth Day Expo in April.
The expo’s volunteer organizers would like to thank the more than 25 environmental educators and vendors who set up hands-on exhibits for both children and adults.
Thank you also goes out to various area businesses and organizations from Carbondale to Rifle that supported the expo with gift certificates, prizes, information and in-kind donations. Thanks to our volunteers from the community, and the National Honor Society at Coal Ridge High School.
The Earth Day Expo is a successful team effort and a grassroots event that shows the community’s growing passion for learning how to do their part to conserve energy, save money on energy bills, support renewable energy resources, and do the Earth-friendly thing at home, work, school and in life.
Expo-goers came from Glenwood Springs, New Castle, Silt, Rifle and beyond. The New Castle EAC is happy to bring together everyone for this educational and fun environmental event. We hope you all learned as much as we did. Everyone can do their part every day to make a difference.
We are looking for more environmentally minded community volunteers to help keep outreach and educational events such as the Earth Day Expo going strong. June 9 is the next chance to get involved, when we will host an outreach evening aimed at increasing curbside recycling participation. Contact us at 984-0502.
