The Frontier Historical Society would like to express its appreciation to everyone who helped make our ninth annual Vintage Base Ball match a huge success. The Yampah Stars came from behind and emerged victorious this year in a close 9-8 match against the Glenwood Sluggers. The cranks brought their blankets and picnic baskets to watch the ballists play, and the rooters and strikers all donated coins to the orphan’s fund in hopes the calls would go their way. A swell time was had by all.

First and foremost, we would like to thank our sponsor, Spring Valley Ranch. As always, Connie Lewis graced us with her graphic talents and came up with another beautiful poster. Thanks to the city of Glenwood Springs, the Glenwood Springs Chamber Resort Association and the Glenwood Springs Post Independent for their support of our event.

Finally, thanks to the ballists for giving their time to play America’s pastime as it was originally intended. Our plucky ballists were Jeff “Casper” Casperson, Greg “Kookie” Jeung, Jim “Hawk” Hawkins, Clay “Youngblood” Hawkins, Dan “The Man” Bokenko, Sam “Rattler” Irmen, Brian “Whitey” Long, Rich “Old Hickory” Pavcek, Marc “The Fiddler” Lillis, Rob “Crazy Legs” Tramazzo, Ray “Cricket” Mitchell, Mark “Shorty” Howard, Keith “Wild” Wester, David “Molasses” Mayer, Rick “Tricky Ricky” Fout, “Mighty” Casey Ward, Matt “Minnesota Kid” Oja, Nick “The Quick” Stillahn and Jeff “Yardarm” Houpt. No muffin boys here!
