Veterans Day Events
The 233rd birthday of the U.S. Marine Corps will be observed at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 10, at the Aspen Grove Cemetery Flagpole in Aspen. Marines and friends of the Corps are invited.

Veterans Day ceremonies will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, at the Roaring Fork Valley Veterans Memorial located on the east side of the Pitkin County Courthouse, 506 E. Main St. in Aspen. Veterans are encouraged to wear items of military memorabilia.
The Aspen Elks Lodge will host its annual Veterans Day luncheon following the ceremony.
Aspen Grassroots Community TV, Channel 12, will run interviews of local veterans participating in the Library of Congress Veterans History Project throughout the day.

The students of Glenwood Springs Middle School cordially invite veterans and the public to attend a veterans’ celebration at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 10, in the GSMS gymnasium. Veterans are encouraged to be honored guests. Plan to arrive at 12:30 p.m. to register and remain for the reception after the concert.

Carbondale Middle School will present a Veterans Day program beginning at 8:40 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, in the school auditorium. All veterans and parents are invited to join the celebration.
Organizers are still seeking a veteran speaker for the program.

Alpine Christian Academy will host a Veterans Day dinner theater celebration at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, at Christ Community Church in Basalt. A variety of soups will be available for dinner. Students from the elementary school will perform short stories from Aesop’s Fables followed by a music program highlighting patriotic songs from the Colonial days to the post-Civil War era. A presentation honoring veterans who attend the event is also included in the program.
The academy extends a special invitation to local veterans to participate in this celebration honoring their contribution to protecting and defending our nation’s freedom. The event is free and open to the public. RSVPs are requested.
Alpine Christian Academy is a private school serving students from preschool through high school, located on Highway 82 between Basalt and El Jebel, across from the Willits subdivision.

Crystal River Elementary School’s annual Veterans Day celebration will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, in the Crystal River Elementary School gym, located at 160 Snowmass Drive in Carbondale.
Sopris Elementary School invites local veterans and the community to a Veterans Day celebration at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11.
