Veterans Day Events
Several Glenwood Springs High School clubs and organizations will honor American veterans during an assembly at the school today.
The school’s Veterans Day Assembly will start at 10:15 a.m. today. All veterans and the public are invited to attend to the assembly, which will feature several performances and presentations by the school’s band, choir, drama club and student council.
The school’s choir will sing the service songs from all branches of the American military. The school’s band, along with its choir, will also be performing separate pieces in honor of America’s veterans.
Glenwood Springs High School’s drama club will perform a skit of the Gettysburg Address, while the student council will have a presentation titled “Flags of Our Fathers,” which will be based on the events of World War II.
Glenwood Springs Police Officer Brian Larison is also expected to speak at today’s assembly.
Kathryn Senor Elementary and Elk Creek Elementary third-grade classes will present Veterans Day concerts in New Castle under the direction of Jeff Van Devender today and tomorrow.
Kathryn Senor Elementary will present at 2:45 and 7 p.m. today and Elk Creek Elementary will present at 2:45 and 7 p.m. tomorrow.
The public is invited to attend.
Crystal River Elementary School’s annual Veterans Day celebration will be held at 2 p.m. today, in the Crystal River Elementary School gym, located at 160 Snowmass Drive in Carbondale.
Carbondale Middle School will present a Veterans Day program beginning at 8:40 a.m. today in the school auditorium. All veterans and parents are invited to join the celebration.
Alpine Christian Academy will host a Veterans Day dinner theater celebration at 6:30 p.m. today at Christ Community Church in Basalt. A variety of soups will be available for dinner. Students from the elementary school will perform short stories from Aesop’s Fables followed by a music program highlighting patriotic songs from the Colonial days to the post-Civil War era. A presentation honoring veterans who attend the event is also included in the program.

Sopris Elementary School invites local veterans and the community to a Veterans Day celebration at 1:30 p.m. today.

Military personnel, past and present, and their families are invited as guests for the annual Veterans Day celebration from 5-8 p.m. today at the Glenwood Springs Elks Lodge, 51939 Highway 6.
Veterans Day ceremonies will be held at 11 a.m. today at the Roaring Fork Valley Veterans Memorial located on the east side of the Pitkin County Courthouse, 506 E. Main St. in Aspen. Veterans are encouraged to wear items of military memorabilia.
The Aspen Elks Lodge will host its annual Veterans Day luncheon following the ceremony.
