Carbondale ” Carbondale Middle School student musicians will present a public Veterans Day Concert at 2:45 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 15 at the CMS gym. For questions, contact band teacher Mark Gray at 384-5729.

Glenwood Springs ” Sopris Elementary School will host a Veterans Day musical show at 10 a.m. today in the SES gym. Veterans and members of the public are invited. For questions, contact music teacher Carolyn Root at 384-5418.

All veterans and the public are invited to attend the annual Veterans Day Observance at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, at the Roaring Fork Valley Veterans Memorial, 506 East Main Street in Aspen. The Glenwood Springs Elks Lodge 2286 members invite all active armed services personnel and all veterans to its Armed Forces Appreciation Celebration, to be held beginning at 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, at the lodge, located at 51939 Highway 6 in West Glenwood. Enjoy live music from “Steppin’ Up,” and a complimentary hors d’oeurves buffet. A cash bar will be available. Family members are invited. Please call 945-2286 for more information.

Veterans and the public are invited to attend the Veterans’ Day Celebration at Riverside Middle School, to be held at 2 p.m. today at the school auditorium. Veterans are encouraged to wear their uniforms. Coffee and snacks will be offered in the school library following the ceremony. Please RSVP to 984-2265, 984-2530 or 625-7800.

The Rifle High School Veterans Day assembly will be held at 9:45 a.m. today in the Rifle High School gymnasium. The purpose of the assembly is to give special recognition to veterans who have served this country.

The assembly will last for approximately one hour, including a keynote speaker and music by the Rifle High School choir and the Rifle Middle School eighth-grade band. Afterward, an appreciation brunch for all veterans will be provided.

Organizers of the assembly would like the veterans attending the assembly to provide brief information on their military service: branch of service, years of service, rank, what war or action served, etc. If staying for the brunch, veterans need to contact Rifle High School secretary Jeannie Cox at 625-7748.

The Garfield Re-2 School District would like to welcome all veterans to its Veterans Day assemblies. Rifle Middle School will hold two assemblies, one at 1 p.m. and a second at 2:15 p.m. today. Both assemblies will be held in the gym. For more information on these assemblies, please contact Rifle Middle School at 625-7900.

Monday, Nov. 13, Wamsley Elementary will hold its Veterans Day Assembly at 10:30 and again at 7 p.m. in the evening. For more information on Wamsley’s celebration, please call 625-7950.

The American Legion Post 100 in Carbondale would like to invite all veterans to its Veterans Day Chili and Cornbread Dinner from 4-6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, at 97 Third St. in Carbondale. Everyone is welcome and for all veterans the dinner is free. For all non-veterans dinner is $3. Any questions, please call 963-2381. Please come and show your support for all our veterans.

The American Legion Post 78 will host a flag burning ceremony on Sunday, Nov. 12, starting at 2 p.m. The ceremony is to destroy old and worn flags in the proper respectful way and will be held at Veterans Memorial Park located at North 30th Street and Highway 13 in Rifle.
